The Mitzvah Food Program Partners with Organizations and Individuals
A field hockey specialist with Her Game International, Charlotte de Vries continues her high school education while contributing her time and earnings to a variety of philanthropic organizations. Over the summer, Charlotte de Vries volunteered to deliver food for the Mitzvah Food Program.
A ministry of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, the Mitzvah Food Program serves thousands of individuals each year without respect to race, religion, gender, or other factors. Founded in 1996, the program has expanded into numerous neighborhoods across Philadelphia.
The Mitzvah Food Program has begun collaborating with a variety of local organizations to further its reach. Recently, these partnerships have included the Share Food Program and Philabundance.
The Mitzvah Food Program also relies on donations from individuals. In recent years, individual donations made up approximately 35 percent of the program's cash intake.
Every holiday season, the Mitzvah Food Program hosts a food drive. Recent contributions to the drive reached nearly 50,000 pounds of food for people in need.
